Missions at Whitworth Church
We Pursue Mission Through Partnership.
Rather than expanding our own programs, we sense God calling us to deploy our members' gifts alongside trusted community partners addressing real needs (homelessness, addiction, poverty, mental health, social isolation). We trust that our role is to equip and empower our people to serve where they are most needed, not to control or direct everything ourselves.

Spokane Fire Victim Support Opportunities
Donate Food, Diapers, and Hygiene Products
1. Charity Partner (Partners INW - Inland North West) is the one continuing to focus on serving local fire victims
2. See their website at partnersinw.org/events/ for background information
3. Other support agencies have shut down or shifted their focus, but fire victims remain in significant need
4. Specifically requesting non-perishable food (canned goods, snacks, etc.), diapers (all sizes as well as wipes), & hygiene products (toiletries, shampoo, soap, toothpaste, etc.)
5. Whitworth Church is collecting donations at the Church through Sunday October 25
6. Items will be delivered to Partners INW by the Mission Committee on Monday Oct. 26
Make a Financial Donation to the Spokane Complex Wildfire Response Fund
1. Charity Partner (Innovia Foundation) has a fund to provide financial support to individuals and families impacted by the Spokane Complex Fires
2. 100% tax deductible
3. Innovia begin wildfire relief support in 2020

Perform hands-on clean-up work at Spokane Fire burn homesites
1. Charity Partner (Disaster Aid USA) started from a Rotary Club’s Vision to provide humanitarian aid during domestic disasters
2. Projects span across the United State as well as Internationally
3. WCPC connected with Disaster Aid USA through the JustServe.org website, which connects volunteers with nonprofit and community service project opportunities.
4. Signed up via the “Help Fire Victims by Clearing Property & Helping Families Hand Sift thru Ashes” Opportunity
5. Christina Petit, President of the Post Falls Chamber of Commerce, manages volunteer engagement.
6. Projects have been scheduled each Saturday and are expected to run through the end of 2026.
7. Shifts are flexible and can be as short or long as you want. Disaster Aid USA provides masks, gloves, and PPE, as well as refreshments and lunch.
4. Pray for Fire Victims through their time of grieving and rebuilding efforts.

World Relief - World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization whose mission is to boldly engage the world's greatest crises in partnership with the church. We envision thriving, welcoming communities where families flourish, and people experience restorative relationships with God, their neighbors, themselves, and all creation. World Relief’s work in the United States, specifically, focuses on helping refugees and other immigrants in vulnerable situations rebuild their lives in a new country.
Family Promise - Contrary to common knowledge, family homelessness is the fastest growing segment of the homeless population in the United States today. Spokane County is no exception. That's why Family Promise specializes in connecting homeless families with those in their own neighborhood, increasing support networks and re-enforcing the skills needed to maintain housing.
En Christo - Every Saturday at noon En Christo (students at Whitworth University) meets in the middle of the dining hall (Sodexo) to put together sack lunches. The lunches are taken to Park Tower, a low-income subsidized apartment building in downtown Spokane. Students divide up into teams to knock on doors and offer residents a free lunch. After we spend time with residents, we walk the streets of downtown Spokane to pass out lunches to those experiencing homelessness.
